“Somewhere along the way of creating this project with Jay we dubbed the term ‘Swanndri Rap’. To me it is helping Aotearoa Hip-Hop feel comfortable in it’s own skin. The origins of HipHop are American and that is what we love, but how do we flip it our way? Use our own vowels, our own slang, our own stories to create something dope. The way The Wu did for Staten Island, the way UGK did for Port Arthur, the way OutKast did for Atlanta, the way Wiley and Dizzee did for the UK.
